Brian Eno Calls On Support to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.

A campaign is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The track blends a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The group managing the campaign have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”

The track is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
